Riverside Parade
By The Editor
In the early years of the Riverside Civic League, going all the way back to the 1960s, an idea was formed to encourage residents to come together to do a neighborhood cleanup. To honor the boys and girls going back to school.
This was highlighted by introducing a neighborhood parade for everyone to come out and work/play together.
Now, more than 60 years later, that parade is still going strong! Led in the beginning by the Riverside Civic League, the Riverside Parade new leadership coming from the Lillian Davis Foundation. They have been working hard to keep this special event alive for you, our neighbors.
September 11, 2021, will be the next parade. This year's theme will be celebrating "Heroes & Essential Workers." Acknowledgments will be given to those who have given so much of themselves and the sacrifices made during last year's Covid-19 lockdown.
The Lillian Davis Foundation is committed to preserving the history and traditions that keep our community strong and enduring. I want to personally thank them for being keepers of our culture here in the Near Northwest Riverside Community.
There will be free food and games and a lot to see so don't be a stranger and come and join us and take part in your history.
